President's Message April 8, 2009

Greetings,

On behalf of the Executive Committee I wish all a Happy Pesach. Prior to sitting down to our Seders I wanted you to SAVE THE DATES of three important upcoming events which we are sponsoring. Before doing so, I wish to report that although we did not manage to send a mission to Israel in February due to such short notice, many members have requested that we plan such a trip next year with sufficient notice so that our membership may plan accordingly. We will do so and inform you in due course of the dates and plans for such a trip in 2010.

1- On Monday April 27, 2009 we shall sponsor in the Westchester County Courthouse our first annual "Holocaust Remembrance Event". It will begin at 5:15 pm in the jurors lounge with a light dinner and at 6:30 an internationally acclaimed film, narrated by Christopher Plummer, provided by the Jacob Burns Film Center, "Nuremberg: The Nazis Meet Their Accusers" shall be shown. The film shall be introduced by the Program Director of the Burns Center. There shall be no charge to our members.

2. On Tuesday June 2, 2009 we shall have our first "Meet The Judges Night". It will take place at Hampshire Country Club in Mamaroneck. This event will be free or at minimal cost to members and is the perfect time to renew your membership and bring colleagues to join. Cocktails and Hors' d'oeuvre's' will be served. All dietary laws observed at all events.

3. On Thursday November 12, 2009 we shall have the privelege of honoring, Judge Jonathan Lippman, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, as our first recipient of the JBWLS Lifetime Achievement Award. This gala event will be the highlight of our development as a Westchester Jewish bar association. Cost and location to be advised shortly.

We thank you for your continued interest and hope to see you at all 2009 events and we wish you a healthy and meaningful Seder!
